How do I use Edible Sun Balm?
Warm a fingertip against the amber tin, then press a thin layer into clean skin 15 minutes before sun exposure. The beeswax melts on contact and the zinc oxide spreads without a white cast on most skin tones. Reapply every two hours, and after swimming or sweating. It works on lips, eyelids, ears, and across the nose — anywhere you would normally burn first.
Is it safe for sensitive skin?
Yes — that is the reason we built it. Most chemical sunscreens rely on filters like oxybenzone or avobenzone that can sting reactive skin. We use non-nano zinc oxide, beeswax, calendula, and sunflower oil instead, so you get broad-spectrum protection without the chemical load. Calendula is there specifically because it is one of the gentlest anti-inflammatory botanicals we grow on the farm.
What is the shelf life?
Twelve months from the day we pour it. Vitamin E and beeswax act as natural stabilisers, and the amber glass tin blocks the UV that would otherwise degrade the oils. Store it somewhere cool and dry — a bathroom shelf or a beach bag is fine — and reseal the lid after each use so dust and water stay out.
Can I use it while pregnant?
Yes. The full ingredient list is five food-grade items — beeswax, calendula, zinc oxide, sunflower oil, vitamin E — with no chemical UV filters, no retinoids, no essential oils, and no fragrance. Several of our customers use it through pregnancy and postpartum, and on their babies once they are out of the newborn phase.
Do you offer samples?
Not yet, and we want to be straight about that. Samples are tricky for a beeswax balm in an amber tin — there is no sachet format that does the formula justice. The closest option right now is to purchase a tin and email us within 30 days if it does not work for your skin; we will refund you and keep the tin out of a landfill.
